Golden waffles

Golden Waffles & buns : 
  • 1-2 Tbs of turmeric ( grated or powder) 
  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour or almond meal
  • 1/2 cup tapioca flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons coconut sugar ( or your favorite sweetener )  
  • 3 large eggs or 3 flax egg ( 1 Tbs chia seed with 3 Tbs water = 1 egg ) 
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil, warmed to liquid state 
  • 1 cup almond milk, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract *optional 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. Preheat your waffle maker: Turn on your waffle maker and let it warm up for 3-5 minuets 
  2. Prepare the waffle batter: always add wet ingredients to dry ingredients , i.e. always separate the dry and liquid ingredients.  
  3. Whisk together the dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients.
  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and thoroughly whisk together. 
  6. Let the batter rest , i.e. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes to give the flour time to absorb the liquid. 
  7. Make the waffles: Grease the waffle maker and make waffles, they will look yellow in the beginning and golden brown when there ready.
  • I used the same exact same mixture for the turmeric buns , I used silicon molds and baked them in the preheated oven 350F for about 15-20 minuets Or till golden brown. 
  • Personally I do love sweet buns with savory toppings but if you'd rather have the buns on the savory side,  cut the sugar altogether and add a bit more salt, enjoy 😊
